Final Project Treatment

My idea for the final project is influenced by Clint Mansell's song Death is the Road to Awe. I chose this song for my final project because I want to have a heavy theme of dying as a positive thing. My video will represent and have a "death is the beginning" motif to it. I hope to achieve that through 'us' as the audience seeing a person laying a rose on a grave and we watch this from a over head bird's eye view. After the person steps away from the grave, us, or the camera dives into the ground and through it so we come face to face with a person with their eyes closed(the dead person) Then we see the person's eyes open as the music begins to pick up. The camera then spins around the body and the body is actually standing up in a space that is three-dimentional and perfectly white. When the camera dollys around the person we then see that he is looking at his loved ones from behind at the grave site. The camera continues to dolly around and we see the front of the man with a tear coming down his eye. The camera zooms in to the tear and it drop off his face. The camera then pulls back and what was a white space behind him is a outer space- like background that he turns to and looks back one more time to see everyone before disappearing like a shooting star. Then we tilt the camera down fast to the crowd facing the camera, then the camera zooms in toward them and goes black.

I plan to use cut outs from magazines of people and still pictures I will take of people conveying emotion. The movements will be fast cutting and the joints of the people with move using the parenting techniques and lots of use of the 3-D camera in after effects. I also will be cutting up a soundtrack with a collaborator so the music will be sampled but the cut will be unique as well as some of the beats added to it.

I chose this theme to represent what I believe is rebirth and death ultimately being the beginning of something much better.
